  • Protein. When you eat protein, your digestive processes in your stomach and small intestine break it down into amino acids. The free amino acids then enter the blood and get carried to cells throughout your body.  I’m sure you’ve been told that you need to eat protein for building and maintaining muscle.
  • Fats. Each different macronutrient has a different effect on the body. As we’ve discussed in other videos, protein triggers satiety hormones.Amino acids which our body uses to make hormones, enzymes, and build muscle. In addition to this protein triggers satiety hormones. Carbohydrates break down into glucose, providing immediate energy and stimulate the release of your storing hormone insulin.
  • Carbs. Carbohydrates are not bad. However, there’s a big difference in the type of carbohydrates you consume and the implications it has on your health. In this video we’re going to go over how different types of carbohydrates affect your body, how much you really need, the best sources to consume and what you can do to optimize your metabolic health without having to avoid carbs altogether.

Your Instructor, Julia Glanz

My passion for fitness and nutrition stemmed from my pursuit of trying to be the best soccer player I could be. I used to spend countless hours in the gym and an equal amount of time researching the “best nutrition” for athletes. I did all of this because I knew it would help me reach my goal of playing Division 1 soccer in college. I earned an athletic scholarship to the University of Arizona and devoted my studies to nutrition and physiology. Looking back, I learned a very important lesson throughout my journey preparing for college. I learned that consistency is key to reach any goal in life. But here’s the thing, when I got to college, I also realized that the strong habits I created went beyond reaching my goal. I fell in love with the day to day process of training and fueling my body to optimize my health and performance. When you finally find a workout routine that supports your goals and you consistently choose healthy foods that support your body, there’s no better reward than how amazing you can truly feel.

My relentless pursuit for seeking the best workouts and nutrition tips during my teens has now turned into 10+ years of constant research and learning. I am a Strength and Conditioning Specialist and Registered Dietitian with a master’s degree in Nutritional Science. There’s nothing I love more than staying up to date on the most current research so that I can best cater to each individual’s needs and goals. Julia Glanz Lifestyle was created to empower each unique body to optimize their health through fitness, nutrition and mindset.

There’s not many things in life you can control, but what you do have control over is what you put into your body and how you take care of it.

Taking care of your body and health is the most valuable investment you can make.
