What to expect with a freight delivery
The short version
- The carrier calls or emails to schedule a delivery window, usually 2–4 hours.
- Standard residential freight is curbside. The driver does not bring it inside.
- Someone must be there to inspect the shipment and sign for it.
Before delivery day
- Make sure a large truck can reach your driveway. Tell the carrier about any access limits when they call.
- Arrange help to move heavy items from the curb.
On delivery day
- The driver arrives in the scheduled window and places the shipment at the curb or nearest accessible spot.
- Inspect it before signing. Note any damage on the delivery receipt.
- Missed deliveries can be rescheduled, but re-delivery or storage fees may apply.
