Yoga Design Lab
Yoga Design Lab is a brand born on the sandy beaches of Bali in 2014, founded by Canadian surfer and yogi Chad Turner. The brand's inception stemmed from a vision to transform yoga into a vibrant experience, inspiring connection, creativity, and sustainability. Turner aimed to revolutionize yoga mats by creating visually stunning, eco-friendly products that infuse joy into every practice. The company's core mission is to blend fashion-forward design elements with innovative functionality and a deep commitment to bio-renewable consciousness.
At Yoga Design Lab, the belief is in creating a better world for the next generation by offering products that are kind to the earth. They are deeply committed to sustainability, ensuring their impact on the planet is as positive as the energy brought to a yoga practice. This commitment is evident in their material choices and manufacturing processes. They utilize non-toxic, water-based inks for printing designs and are actively working to minimize packaging by updating it to use recycled kraft paper labels and boxes.
A significant part of their eco-conscious approach involves the use of recycled materials. They proudly incorporate recycled PET, repurposing old plastic bottles into an ultra-absorbent microfiber material found in various products, including combo mats, towels, bags, and bolsters. This "suede-like" material not only helps keep plastic out of oceans and landfills but also offers exceptional grip, absorption, and softness. To date, over 861,000 plastic bottles have been diverted through this process.
Furthermore, Yoga Design Lab incorporates renewable cork into their mats, wheels, and blocks. This material is sourced from the outer bark of the cork oak tree, which regenerates its bark every nine years without the need for the tree to be cut down. Cork is naturally anti-microbial, preventing the absorption of odor and bacteria, and its grip increases with warmth. Their mats also feature a sustainable, non-Amazonian natural tree rubber base layer, providing cushioning and stable grip for various yoga practices.
Yoga Design Lab is more than just a brand; it is a movement that celebrates the intersection of wellness, art, and conscious living. Each product is thoughtfully crafted to elevate a yoga practice with both style and purpose, drawing inspiration from nature, art, and the global yoga community. The brand has expanded its market presence through partnerships with prominent retailers and luxury hotel chains, offering custom designs, co-branding, and private labeling services. Their footprint has grown to over 40 countries and across more than 300 retailers, with drop shipments available in Australia, Canada, Japan, the UK, and the USA.
