The Pivot Pad transforms any squat rack into a variable-height hip thrust machine. To use, simply rack your barbell and snap the Pivot Pad onto the bar. This pad functions like a commercial-grade hip thrusting machine but at a fraction of the cost and footprint. The Pivot Pad features a soft foam exterior combined with a rigid core.
Traditional benches for hip thrusts can be uncomfortable, challenging to set up, and often have a fixed height that may not align with proper biomechanics. The Pivot Pad addresses these issues by positioning the user correctly based on their height, making it easy to get into the movement. Users can simply sit on the ground with their upper back against the pad and begin thrusting.
While primarily designed for various hip thrusts, including barbell, dumbbell, and banded variations, the Pivot Pad's utility extends beyond this single exercise. It is also effective for other accessory movements such as single arm presses, glute marches, Copenhagen planks, and rear-elevated push-ups.
The Pivot Pad features a patent-pending keyhole design that allows it to snap directly onto an Olympic barbell. This design enables the pad to rotate with the user, creating an immersive experience where the pad feels almost imperceptible during use. For the most comfortable and convenient hip thrust solution, the Pivot Pad can be used in conjunction with the Hip Thrust Pad.
The Pivot Pad is a collaborative innovation from Dr. Kelly Starrett of The Ready State and AbMat. The concept for the Pivot Pad emerged from discussions after Kelly approached the AbMat team seeking a solution for performing split squats with a barbell. Kyle Divine also provided design input for the Pivot Pad.

The pad does not stay on the bar well. It works when I’m use, but getting it to stay on the bar is a Haarlem I didn’t expect,

I like it but it’s slippery. I have to put a mat or something on it or my clients shorts/ tops side on it. But it is easy set up for all things bridge/thrust

I think this is great in concept. Saves a lot of time and effort setting up a glute bridge station with boxes. Also saves pain of the corner of a box digging into your low back even with a yoga mat of some kind on it. I do believe they are making glute bridge boxes now though. My problem with The Pivot Pad lies the dependence on the rack/J-cups you use. I have J-cups with wrapped in leather, and then standard J-cups with plastic. If used on the plastic, the bar slides all over the place and feels very "sketchy". Not so much on the leather. The bar also has to be at the perfect height for each individual which is greatly dependent on limb length. I wouldn't use this for anything more than ~100 kilos. There's simply to many variables. It's not a bad product, and great idea. Just won't ever be as stable as a box or machine.

I wanted to love the pivot pad, but....it has one annoyance that keeps my enthusiasm in check. I purchased it primarily for hip thrusts to avoid having to set a flat bench against the wall for heavy thrusts. The annoyance is that the pad rotates too freely on my bars and does not stay in the proper position when starting the hip thrust. I have to reach back, when I'm sitting on the ground in the starting position, and rotate the pad so my back can lay flat against it. Otherwise it does the job. I've returned to just using a bench against the wall.
