Everything you already expect from medium Rocko -- but taken through the fire just a little longer to produce a deeper body and a richer experience.
Dark Rocko is a dark roast made with 100% single origin Ethiopian Heirloom Arabica beans, natural process. There is something pretty special and unique about an Ethiopian natural when it's at its best. This is a tricky coffee to roast -- classic Ethiopian natural, some cultivated beans, some wild beans, so a diversity of roast colors will be seen, but that all adds to the heritage of this bean type.
Who should drink this? Those who enjoy coffees that insist on being noticed.
- 100% single origin Ethiopian Heirloom Arabica -- natural process, darker roast
- Subtle notes of strawberry, blueberry, and toffee
- Smooth, never bitter -- low in acidity without taking away strength or flavor
- Available in ground or whole bean -- roasted fresh to order
How does Dark Rocko differ from the original Rocko?
Dark Rocko is the same Ethiopian natural process Heirloom Arabica taken to a darker roast level -- deeper body, richer experience, and more developed toffee and chocolate notes alongside the fruit.
What does natural process mean for the flavor?
Natural (dry) process means the coffee cherry is dried whole before milling. The fruit sugars infuse into the bean, creating the intense strawberry, blueberry, and fruit-forward character this coffee is known for.
Is this very acidic?
No. Despite the vibrant fruit notes, Dark Rocko is low in acidity -- smooth and approachable for those who enjoy Ethiopian character without brightness.
What makes Ethiopian Heirloom Arabica special?
Ethiopian Heirloom refers to a genetically diverse mix of wild and cultivated Arabica varieties native to Ethiopia -- the birthplace of coffee. The diversity creates complex, layered flavor profiles found nowhere else.
