They're long enough that you can get more plates up and off the floor, and the addition of the PU coating is great for protecting the metal ring of the plates from scuffs and scratches. The 1-point mount (single bolt) holds ffast and saves space on the uprights by not taking up several holes. At 1.75" diameter, standard olympic plates fit with a bit of wiggle room, but I don't know that I would consider that to be a negative. I'm very pleased with my purchase.
