Denis Vasilev Talks Cali Open Kettlebell Sport Competition with Aaron Guyett

Uncategorized Feb 17, 2021

The 2021 California Open will be held via live streaming! The 10th anniversary of one of the best Kettlebell Sport events in the world will still be held the second to last weekend in February as it is every year. Lifters will do their sets over a Zoom live stream with one judge assigned to them to judge their set.

Q. What bells can I use?

A. All Kettlebell Kings kettlebells are pre approved for us. We recommend you purchase those before the event as you are able to. We have free shipping in the United States, Europe and Australia. All other bells will need to be demonstrated and showed during the weigh in period in the week leading up to the event.

Q. How do I qualify for overall winner?

A. Males must compete in any event with 32 Kilograms and females must compete with 24 Kilogram kettlebells in any event. Winners will be determined by coefficient. Coefficient is calculated as total weight moved divided by bodyweight so 32kg(bell) x 100(reps) divided by 85kg(lifter) = 37.64.

Q. How will potential disputes about reps be resolved?

A. During your set you will be in a pinned live stream with a judge assigned specifically to your set. We recommend you also record your set separately while streaming so you can submit it in the event of any disputes about reps. If you believe there is a discrepancy in your set, you have 24 hours to submit your recorded version of the set which will be decided by a two judge panel. We will also be recording your set through the live stream to reference as well.

Q. What is the discount for judging?

A. We need judges! Anyone can judge. If you sign up to judge, you will be able to attend live streaming sessions taught by head judge, J.T Netterville, leading up to the event so you know how to properly judge a set. After you complete your judge, we will give you a $50 gift card to Kettlebell Kings.

Q. How do I train to be a judge?

A. The demonstrations at show how to perform and judge each set.

Q. How will judging be consistent?

A. For each set you will have one judge assigned to your set. Two judges will be assigned to each championship level set. All judges will complete training sessions to ensure uniform judging.

Q. When will I receive my competition link?

A. We will send you the link you will need to log in and compete on the live stream the week of the event.

Q. What time will sets be from around the world?

A. Set times will be based on United States based time zones between 10 AM and 4 PM Pacific time. If a large number of lifters from different parts of the world sign up, we will work with you to find a set time that is part of your normal day, but you should expect to lift based on the US time zones. If you would like to compete as groups from different countries please ask any questions to [email protected] regarding a time

Q. When will winners be announced?

A. We will be entering the results of each set into a tracking document as soon as possible and winners along with a video production release of the event will be completed within one week of the event.

Q. I have more questions, how can I get answers?

A. You can email [email protected] or after you sign up you can attend any of our live streaming question and answer sessions hosted by Orange Kettlebell Club.
